The weekend before Christmas we convert Mataelpino into a heartwarming Live Nativity Scene. The village square is transformed into an authentic Palestinian village from the time of Jesus’ birth. A small “theatrical” spectacle is performed starring Mataelpino’s very own neighbours, each of whom plays a different role alongside Herod and his soldiers, Mary, Joseph, baby Jesus, and the Three Wise Men. You will find washers, masons, carpenters, the blacksmith, shepherds, donkeys, goats, sheep and calves… There are various performances, jugglers, activities for children, and our Virgen Blanca Chorus singing Christmas Carols… and if you are invited to participate by coming dressed in clothes from that time period.
